From Tree to Home

A quick nod to Catherine
Cat had this dream of building a community hub for the local "Makers, Shakers, Farmers & Bakers" ... and after years of dreaming, sketching, planning and recruiting...The Zephyr Barn was finally built! (as she has said "the trees came home") The Zephyr Barn was quite literally built from the very trees that sat on the land just a bit over a year ago!

In the short time since the recent mid-winter "soft launch" when the doors opened up to the public, Zephyr has quickly turning into that very hub Cat dreamed up... full of artists, slow food, inspiration and community. She recruited a team of artists and crafters, web designers, writers, builders and chefs that all bring their ideas and expertise to this space that is organically growing just like the trees that built it. Cat's husband Jim Gray and his childhood friend Jon Curtis (the timber framer) that grew up in Bluehill Maine, lead the team for the building process, and Cat made sure she went hands on and heart in for all of it!

And now, with the build done and Cat's focus shifted to the inside of the building, she is going full hands on and heart in with an impressive amount of gusto!
We thought it was worth revisiting the years before the inside of the building existed and how much hard work happens before a thing is a thing...a building, a plate of food, an art piece...Mainegenuity and "going local" really means something here, and hard work should be recognized in this AI age. A place that ignores the quickest solutions and respects the process is worth diving into head first.
Speaking of slow food...
This pulled chicken sandwich of the week is AMAZING.
